NetworkNewsBreaks – EVIO, Inc. (EVIO) Posts Fiscal Q2 2018 Financial Results

EVIO, Inc. (OTCQB: EVIO), a leading provider of cannabis testing and scientific research for the regulated cannabis industry, this morning announced financial and operating results for the quarter and six months ended March 31, 2018. Among other highlights, the company reported revenue for the second quarter of $732,311, a decrease of $56,415 or 12.1% from the second quarter last year. Revenue from the six months ending March 31, 2018, however, was $1,679,176, an increase of $177,997 or 11.9% from the same period in 2017. “EVIO’s second quarter focused greatly on broadening the company’s portfolio. With our recent private placement of $5.973 million, we expanded the company’s footprint by acquiring additional labs, namely in California, a market that we have identified as having unparalleled potential,” EVIO CEO William Waldrop stated in the news release. “We expect the state of California to enforce mandated compliance testing by July 1, 2018. With operational facilities in both Humboldt and Berkeley and the goal of further expansion into the state, we feel like EVIO is well-positioned to meet California’s demand for cannabis testing. Another significant milestone was our entrance into the Canadian market and launched EVIO Canada with the acquisition of Keystone Labs ahead of the country’s legalization of adult recreational use this summer.”

2 more crossings open through Cyprus' ethnic divide

Nov 14, 2018

DHERYNIA, Cyprus — A few hundred Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots walked through a newly opened crossing point in the southeastern village of Dherynia in what peace activists are hailing as further breaking down barriers on ethnically divided Cyprus. Dherynia, and another crossing point in the country's northwest, bring the total of crossing points to open since travel restrictions across the United Nations-controlled buffer zone were relaxed 2003 to nine. Last month, Cyprus' Greek Cypriot president and the breakaway Turkish Cypriot leader designated Monday as the crossings' official opening in a bid to help build momentum toward restarting stalled reunification...

Italian president calls WWI a warning to Europe to co-exist

Nov 14, 2018

ROME — Italy's president has recalled World War I's roots in "aggressive nationalism" and urged young people to remember the conflict's lessons while striving for peaceful co-existence. Italian head of state Sergio Mattarella attended several ceremonies in Italy on Sunday, part of a week of observances marking the 100th anniversary of the war's end. One was in Trieste, an Adriatic port not far from some of the final, deadliest battles between Italian soldiers and troops of the Austrian-Hungarian empire. Mattarella said the war demonstrated the "incapacity of the European ruling class" to pursue "national aspirations and interests in a peaceful"...

Merkel visits Ukraine, says anti-Russian sanctions will stay

Nov 14, 2018

KIEV, Ukraine — German Chancellor Angela Merkel has visited Ukraine, pledging to uphold anti-Russian sanctions for Russian actions in Ukraine. Speaking after Thursday's talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Merkel said Germany would support extending the European Union' s restrictions against Russia over its support for rebels in eastern Ukraine. Merkel cited the lack of progress in fulfilling a 2015 peace deal. More than 10,000 people have been killed in fighting in eastern Ukraine that erupted in 2014 weeks after Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula. The peace agreement signed in Minsk in 2015 helped reduce the scope of fighting,...

Czech leader tells Mattis quitting nuclear deal would be bad

Nov 14, 2018

PRAGUE — The Czech Republic's prime minister has told U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis that a possible U.S. withdrawal from a landmark nuclear weapons treaty would be wrong. Andrej Babis told reporters in Prague on Sunday that relations (with Russia) "aren't ideal and we're returning to Cold War times." Babis said that "it would be good for the superpowers to cooperate." President Donald Trump said that Russia has violated terms of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, or INF, which prohibits the U.S. and Russia from possessing, producing or test-flying ground-launched nuclear cruise missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500...

Italy arrests 3 in teen's slaying that fuels migrant debate

Nov 14, 2018

ROME — Italian police have detained three suspects, all immigrants, in the slaying of a teenage girl who was drugged, gang-raped and left in an abandoned building in Rome known as a drug den. The case has drawn outrage over the degradation in parts of the Italian capital that have been taken over by gangs and drug dealers. The suspects, two Senegalese citizens and one Nigerian, were being held on suspicion of murder, group sexual assault and distributing drugs in the death last week of 16-year-old Desiree Mariottini, Italian authorities said Thursday. Reports that two of the subjects were in...
