Opening a new business can be overwhelming, there are so many things to take into consideration. Budgeting for your marketing and advertising online will be the ice breaker on how long it will take to generate a good return on investment for adverting dollars and new customers. So how do you get started with obtaining a good price margin for your new business? Can you afford to spend thousands of dollars with a big advertising and branding agency at first? Probably not, but there is some good news for the DIY focussed online businesses out there. By now, you have probably heard of SEO, search engine optimization or search engine marketing.

If you haven’t, well this is a good place to start. Most websites these days are built by WordPress or other do it yourself websites like Builderall, Weebly or Wix. All these platforms make it easy to do SEO yourself. But where do you start and how does it work?

Well, if you think about how most customers look for a new service or product in their city, it will probably be the same way you do, Google it!

So if you have ever wondered how a website comes up after you searched by a certain keyword or phrase, it’s complex. But it basically indexes millions of websites to come up with the websites that is mostly relative to the keyword or phrase you entered into the search box and then ranks them accordingly.

So if you have a business product or service, you probably want your website to come up on that first page right? Sure and so does everybody else, So what’s the best way to do it? Think Local first, break it down by your city, then state, then region. Then break it down by your service industry category subject, then object or service title and description.

That being said, now go through your website and add titles and alt titles to every image on your website. Make sure it is relative to your service or product you offer. So say you are a foot doctor and your office is in Nashville, Tennessee. Go to your websites main index page and add a title and description in the meta data. So make sure you add that information known as meta tags in your website. For example, start off with Nashville Foot Doctor in title. Then add your service description, “Foot Doctor in Nashville providing complete care”. Then add the same information to you images on your website. The more creative keywords that are relative to your product or service the better your website with rank organically on the first page of the google results. Also for each website page make sure you insert the same content that is relative to your business. That part is very important, all search engines scan each web-page and look for the same keyword that would have been entered into the search criteria from the search engine.

So as long as your meta tags are relative to what online products or services your business offers, it will rank accordingly on popularity of content provided. I like to think of it as walking into a library and wanting a certain book. Let’s say I am looking for a book on engine repair. I’m not going to go the history area and search for that book, or if I do I won’t find it.

A good way to start thinking about SEO is writing down your keywords and phrases that you think your customers will search for your business or product by. Then use those same words for your search titles and descriptions and web-page content.

This is a technique that is free. Just apply it and wait for the results. Keep testing your website by searching for the keywords of your website by adding the name of your website in the search. You will notice it will start appearing organically on google or bing for those keywords.

Jun 21, 2018

BRUSSELS — The European Union will start taxing a range of U.S. imports Friday, including quintessentially American goods like Harley-Davidson bikes and cranberries, in response to President Donald Trump's decision to slap tariffs on European steel and aluminum. The 28-nation EU's trade chief, Cecilia Malmstrom, said Wednesday that the bloc would introduce the tariffs on about 2.8 billion euros' ($3.4 billion) worth of U.S. products. The tariffs, which had been announced earlier this year, had previously been expected to come into force next month. Iran rebuffs Trump's call for OPEC to increase oil output

Jun 21, 2018

VIENNA — Iran lashed out Tuesday against U.S. President Donald Trump's call on OPEC to increase oil production and limit global energy prices, saying the cartel "is not an American organization." The OPEC oil ministers began arriving in Vienna on Tuesday ahead of their official meeting Friday, when they will also confer with Russia, a non-OPEC country that since late 2016 has cooperated with the cartel to limit production. Analysts expect the group to consider an increase in production of about 1 million barrels a day, ending the output cut agreed on in 2016. The cut has since then pushed...

Venice Commission chief Gianni Buquicchio told Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Monday that Hungary's parliament should wait until the commission publishes recommendations on the so-called "Stop Soros" bill or at least take into account the preliminary views already shared with Hungarian officials. The pending bill is named for Hungarian-American financier George Soros, who Hungary's...

Italy's interior minister turns gaze to 'Roma question'

Jun 21, 2018

ROME — Italy's hard-line interior minister, who recently sparked a multinational showdown by refusing entry to a Mediterranean Sea rescue boat packed with 630 migrants, is now taking aim at Italy's minority Roma community. Interior Minister Matteo Salvini told a Lombardy television station Monday that he wants to conduct a census or "registry" of Roma in Italy. Salvini, the leader of Italy's right-wing League party, insisted later the project's purpose wasn't to identify individual Roma. "I've asked the ministry to prepare a dossier on the Roma question in Italy," he told TeleLombardia, adding that the current situation of Roma, also...
